Tatting - creative way to express myself

Lace jewellery is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely I spend too much time browsing all fantastic blogs and I just adore those stunning pieces of tatting art shown there. It is amazing how beautiful things you can make using old vintage patterns, formerly used as doilies, hunkies, collars, etc…They are easily adaptable to modern earrings, pendants, bracelets or necklaces . Every tatting motif, from very simple to very complicated, is feminine, elegant, sophisticated and stylish. If you add beads, crystals or pearls –you can get a stunning piece of jewellery –delicate, unique and eye-catching.

The next thing I love in tatting is the idea of connections with female traditions. I like thinking that I make things in the same way as women few generations before me… this is our heritage and it is worth to continue hand making crafts instead of, maybe cheap, but without a soul , things from factories in China, for example. This is also a creative way to express myself.

Recently I have found a very old beautiful pattern from Beeton’s Book of Needlework originally published in Great Britain in 1870 by Ward, Lock and Tyler. I have tatted this pendant using black Aida 20 and purple seed beads.

Sparkly night - tatted earrings

I am still playing with the ancient design, which I used here. I am changing the thickness of threads, colours, extra beads, crystals, etc.  I bought one Twilley’s Gold Fingering in silver and one in black. This is beautiful, with a jewel-like shine, a little bit thicker than threads I used before. I love the effect, which gives the connection of metallised thread combined with Swarovski crystals. It looks incredibly spectacular to me.

This pair of earrings is made with a black metalized thread (Twilley’s Gold Fingering), black Czech Glass Pressed Dagger Jet beads and seed beads in Anthracite black.

The next one is a gorgeous, sparkly pendant I have made with a silver thread I mentioned earlier. I tatted in Swarovski crystals (AB) and a big Swarovski face drop.

Here we have gorgeous black earrings (black Aida 20) with black Swarovski crystals (Jet AB) , black Czech Glass Pressed Dagger Jet beads and sterling silver earwires. They are made for my friend, who is going to wear it on her sister’s wedding. I am really glad she likes them.

Paper napkins for decoupage (also known as a napkin decoupage, napkin technique, napkin art), scrapbook, collage.

I have got a lot of paper napkins with different designs. A few people have asked me recently, where I buy it. So, honestly, I buy everywhere I can. EBay, gardening centre, Cath Kidston store and … when I am in Poland to visit my family –always, ALWAYS - I buy a lot of napkins. If you are looking for an unusual design or you need only one or two napkins and don’t need a whole pack – I can give you a great opportunity to try it out. One paper napkin costs 30p and different can be mixed so it could suit you. P&P -1 pound –does not matter how many napkins you buy. (PayPal only)

Ceramic hearts with tatted flowers

I made ceramic hearts few days ago. I used tatted flower to give them an unique design. In my opinion these hearts are a little bit shabby chic and the natural jute rope has given them a special character. To make it I used white modelling clay (air drying)

Tatted bracelet

Hello! Today I want to show you a lovely tatted lace bracelet I have finished recently. This is the same vintage pattern I used making those earrings. I used ecru Aida 20 thread.
I received many compliments wearing this bracelet this morning.
