This time I want to show you beautiful tatted collar I made recently. The pattern comes from "Crocheted and knitted bedspreads" by The Canadian Spool Cotton Company from 1943. Very elegant addition to any outfit, even for a retro style wedding dress. I think it is my biggest project so far and I am really pleased with it. I used a cream cotton thread Aida in size 20

Bold black lace bracelet

Few weeks ago I bought a much thicker thread than usual, in size 5. It gives much more dramatic results, lace is bold.

I designed a new bracelet and it looks really good with this thread (black Aida 5)

Pare tygodni temu kupilam nic duzo grubsza niz zwykle, w rozmiarze 5. Daje ona bardziej wyrazisty rezultat, koronka jest zdecydowanie pogrubiona.

Zaprojektowalam nowa bransoletkę i mysle, ze wyglada naprawde dobrze supłana ta nitką (czarna Aida 5)

Hello my dear followers! This is a very busy time for me, but I am perfectly happy with it. Recently I made this gorgeous bracelet (pattern from Priscilla book from 1915! ) in beautiful colour of terracotta (something between deep red and brown) (Lizbeth 20). I have already sold it, so have to tat one more :)

Witam wszystkich ! Jestem bardzo zajeta ostatnio, ale to dobrze! Oczywiscie frywolitkami :)

Ostanio zrobilam kolejna bransoletke (wzor ze starej ksiazki Priscilli z 1915 roku ) w pieknym kolorze terracotta (odcien pomiedzy glęboka czerwienia a brązem) (nic Lizbeth 20). Juz jest sprzedana, wiec musze ja wysuplac raz jeszcze :)

Tatting Pattern - Snowflake

I am very happy to let you know that my first tatting pattern is just available to buy on Etsy
This small lovely snowflake is quick to tat. It requires 2 shuttles to make it. I use following techniques : SCMR (if you are not familiar with SCMR, you can make regular ring), chains, rings on chains made using second shuttle , lock joins, picots
Hope you will be enjoying this pattern.

Bardzo mi milo powiadomic Was, ze moj pierwszy frywolitkowy wzor jest juz dostepny do kupienia na Etsy. Ta sliczna mala sniezynka jest bardzo szybka do zrobienia.
Wzor wymaga uzycia 2 czólenek. Wykorzystalam nastepujace techniki : SCMR (self-closing mock ring -nie wiem, jak to sie nazywa po polsku) - (jesli nie znacie tej techniki, to mozna zrobic normalne koleczko, choc efekt jest wtedy leciutko inny), lancuszki, koleczka robione drugim czolenkiem na lancuszku, lock joins (i tu tez nie wiem, jak to sie po polsku nazywa ), pikotki.

This is a great time to tat more and more snowflakes. I adapted my Leocadia pattern and made those adorable small snowflakes. They will be look gorgeous on a Christmas Tree.

Tatted doily

Do you know what I hate about tatting? Un-tatting! It takes10 times longer than tatting. I tat very tight, so it is very hard to un-do evenfew stiches. Of course I should be more concentrate when I make my lace, but itisn’t easy with two small children at home.

When it is just a smallmotif, I just threw it away. But it usually happen when I almost finished my tatting… and I have to un-tat, Grrrr….HaveI said before - I hate it?

This is happened, when I was tatting a new doily. I followtatting instructions given by Renulek on her blog. What is funny about this? Wedon’t know how the doily is going to look. Great fun, so if you like it, jointo this online tatting event

Wiecie, czego niecierpię przy frywolitkowaniu? Prucia! Zabiera mi to 10 razy więcej czasu niż samofrywolenie. Moje frywolitki są dość sztywne, bo mocno je zaciągam, wiec bardzo ciężkojest rozplatać nawet parę supełków. Oczywiście, powinnam być bardziejskoncentrowana, ale naprawdę nie jest to łatwe z dwójką małych dzieci w domu.

Kiedy dzieje się toz jakimś małym motywem, po prostu go wyrzucam. Tylko niestety takie błędy robięzazwyczaj wtedy, kiedy prawie mam skończone dana robotkę… No i musze pruć,grrrr…. Wspominałam już, ze tego nie cierpię?

No i oczywiście zdarzyłosię to kiedy robiłam nowa serwetkę. Robięją wg wskazówek Renulka na jej blogu. Wiecie co jest fajne? Sometimes I tat with some patterns, sometimes I just tat for pleasure, without any idea what I want to make. This time I present this kind of my tatting. The result is a lace necklace. It is very delicate and feminine. I really like it. To take a photo I used a graphic from Graphics Fairy - I believe it matches perfectly.(I used black Aida 20)

Czasem frywolitkuję posługując się wzorami, a czasem tylko i wyłącznie dla samej przyjemnosci frywolitkowania, bez żadnego konkretnego pomyslu, co chce zrobic. Tym razem pokazuję ten rodzaj mojej frywolitki. Efektem jest koronkowy naszyjnik. Jest bardzo delikany i kobiecy, naprawdę mi sie podoba. Hello my lovelies! I am back from holiday one week ago and honestly it isn't easy to back to blogging.

But here I am! And my tatting as well!

Since my last post I made few new things, today I want to show my new earrings. Absolutely new design, love it very much!

I made a lot of versions of them, but I have got nice pictures only of this pair. They are in red (100% cotton) with black plated (gun metal) earwires and with a lot of black seed beads.

Witam moi kochani! Z wakacji wrocilam juz tydzien temu, ale szczerze mowiac nie latwo mi wrocic do blogowania.

Ale juz jestem! Moje frywolitki równiez!

Od czasu mojego ostatniego wpisu zrobilam troche nowych rzeczy, dzisiaj chce pokazac nowe kolczyki. Zupelnie nowy wzor, bardzo mi sie podoba!

Zrobilam kilka wersji, ale fajne zdjecia mam tylko tej pary. Kolczyki sa czerwone, z biglami w kolorze gunmetal (jakas polska nazwa?) i kilkudziesiecioma malymi czarnymi koralikami.

I had an opportunity to try a new pattern by Koroneczka. She designed cute tiny owls and wrote down a pattern. The pattern is very easy to follow. I made those earrings this afternoon and I think they are adorable.

The thread I used is Czech Snehurka in variegated brown

Thank you so much for the colour suggestions for my new bracelet. I made it in indigo. (According to different people is purple or blue).

According to Koroneczka's post about stiffness of tatting - I only iron my tatting. I always thought they are not rigid. However yesterday I took a picture that shows that they are pretty stiff.

Dziękuję ślicznie za propozycje kolorystyczne do mojej nowej bransoletki. Zrobiłam ją w kolorze indygo. (Wg różnych osób to fioletowy albo niebieski).

Przy okazji chciałabym nawiązać do postu Koroneczki na temat sztywności frywolitek. Zawsze się zastanawiam na czym polega blokowanie frywolitek i czego używacie do tego. Ja właściwie tylko prasuje moje koronki, ale wydawało mi się , ze sztywne to one nie są… Wczoraj zrobiłam zdjęcie , które pokazuje, ze jednak są ślicznie sztywne J

OMG! I totally forgot to show you a necklace I made using this pattern. It is bold and dramatic , mainly because I used a thicker thread than usually (this time is a size 10). I added a lot round faceted crystals in colour called black diamond. I just love how this choker looks!

O rany! Zupełnie zapomniałam pokazać Wam naszyjnik, który zrobiłam używając tego wzoru. Bracelet Rosemary

Recently I bought the gorgeous variegated thread in pink, light green and peach with metallic gold thread (Turkish Altin Basak). It reminds me of the flowers, sweets and ice cream. Essentially brings to mind the summer holidays and carefree. Very positive anyway.

New thread is worthy of a new design, right?So I created an entirely new design, inspired by lace insert from the book "The lace tatting book" by Mile Riego from 1866. I called it Rosemary.
According to this model I tatted a bracelet, I added a gold-colored beads, closure is a Tibetan antique gold (if you believe what is written on the label).

Kupiłam ostatnio cudną melanżową nitkę, w kolorach różu, jasnej zieleni i jasnej brzoskwini z metaliczna złotą nitką (turecki Altin Basak). Kojarzy mi się on z kwiatami, mojemu mężowi ze słodyczami i lodami. Zasadniczo budzi skojarzenia z latem, wakacjami i beztroską. Pozytywnie bardzo w każdym razie.

Nowy kordonek zasługuje na nowy wzór, nieprawdaż?

Powstał więc zupełnie nowy wzór, inspirowany koronkową wstawka z książki „The lace tatting book” by Mile Riego z 1866 roku. Nazwalam go Rosemary.

Wg tego wzoru wysupłałam bransoletkę, dodałam koraliki w złotym kolorze, zapięcie to postarzane tybetańskie złoto (jeśli wierzyć temu co napisane jest na etykietce)

Yesterday I have made a bracelet using the same pattern as here. This time I have used an ivory (or beige, cream, ecru - I affraid I don't see a diffrence between the nuances of these colors ;) ) thread (size 10) , Swarovski pearls and an antique gold magnetic clasp. I have great fun playing with photos, here are some results.Which photos you like the most?

Zrobiłam wczoraj nową bransoletkę. Skorzystałam z tego samego wzoru co tutaj. Tym razem użyłam nitki w kolorze jasnobezowym (ecru, kosc sloniowa, kremowy -zdaje sie , ze nie odróżniam niuansów miedzy tymi kolorami ;) ) rozmiar 10, pereł Swarovskiego oraz magnetycznego zapięcia w kolorze antycznego złota. Swietnie sie bawiłam zdjęciami, czego kilka rezultatów pokazuję poniżej. Które zdjęcie podoba sie Wam najbardziej?

This sexy and feminine choker was shuttle tatted by me .Pattern comes from an antique tatting book (DMCTatting). I modified and redesigned it to get this elegant sophisticated necklace in the NeoVictorian style.

I used a black thread (size 10 I belive) and anthracite Miyuki seed beads.

Today I would like to show you a rainbow pendant. I redesign my original project, Vampire’s Wheel of Fate and make this one with six points.

This is amazing for me how colours of this thread match each other and make a such fantastic symmetric pattern. This is a thread I bought in Poland but unfortunately I don’t know the name of it.

Dzisiaj chciałabym pokazać Wam tęczową zawieszkę. Przerobiłam mój oryginalny projekt, Wampiryczne Kolo i zrobiłam takie z 6 ramionami.

Niesamowite dla mnie jest to jak kolory pasują do siebie i tworzą fantastyczny symetryczny wzór. Nitkę tą kupiłam w Polsce i niestety nie wiem jak się nazywa.

Tatted Leocadia earrings

Very very short post today. I'm very busy lately, I joined two great teams on Etsy, POLEtsy and McEtsy. In the last few days I learned a lot of things about marketing on Etsy, which resulted in 2 sale today. I am very pleased.

The next project based on the Cecilia motif. I have named it Leocadia. The first row may stand alone as a snowflake.

I have noticed some of you- who design new motives in tatting – first work on drawing pattern and then tat this project.I'm perhaps the intuitive type, because if I have an idea, I just sit and tat and something (sometimes) goes there. I simply cut off any weaknesses and mistakes. A little bit frustrating, but who said that the creative process should be easy ? LOL

I would be very grateful if someone told me, how could I improve this motif. For now, this is such a patchwork, I tat one item –end- and tat another –join to the previous, end, etc. There are a lot of techniques in tatting I don’t know yet.

Anyway –here is a brand new bracelet Leocadia, in mint (I would called it whitened green, I don’t know why somebody named it mint?) (Liezbeth 20)with silver findings and lovely round crystals in smoky gray.

Byłabym bardzo wdzięczna, gdyby ktoś podpowiedział mi, jak można by ten wzór robić jednym ciągiem. Na razie to jest taki patchwork, robię jeden element, zakańczam i kolejny dodaje, zakańczam itd. Jest wiele technik we frywolitce, których jeszcze nie znam…

W każdym razie - oto nowa bransoletka Leocadia. Kolor nitki to taka rozbielona zieleń, miętową nazywana, nie wiem skąd ta nazwa koloru? Użyłam nici Liezbeth, rozmiar 20, srebrnego zapiecia oraz slicznych okraglych kryształków w kolorze przydymionego szarego.

Another necklace in turquoise. This time I have been tatting over a brass chain and I have added one blue tear drop bead to finish it. I am really glad with result. I like this chain particularly. If you take a closer look, you can notice the nice decoration on smaller rings.

Naprawdę jestem zadowolona z rezultatu. Szczególnie podoba mi się ten łańcuszek. Jeśli przyjrzycie się uważniej, zauważycie, ze na mniejszych ogniwkach jest wygrawerowany ładny wzorek.

Few days ago I received a big parcel full of new threads. They are absolutely gorgeous . At this moment I am absolutely crazy about every shade of turquoise. Yesterday I tatted this square motif (pattern from the Polish magazine Wena ) and added an antique looking chain. And the way I created this unusual pendant. Once again- thank you very much for your lovely comments -they really matter to me.

Parę dni temu dostałam wielką paczkę pełną nowych nici. Są przepiękne! Obecnie mam totalna fazę na wszelkie odcienie turkusu, co ma swoje odzwierciedlenie w moich frywolitkach. Wczoraj wyfrywolilam ten kwadratowy motyw (wzór z czasopisma Wena) i dodałam łańcuszek w kolorze starego złota. I tym właśnie sposobem powstał nietuzinkowy naszyjnik. Welcome :) From today I'll be writing in both English and Polish. Blogging in English is for me a way of practising the English language. A year ago, when I began this blog, I did it mainly for myself, to have a place where I can show my crafts .The number of persons who follow this blog has grown bigger than my expectations, I extremely pleased you like visit this place. However -it is known -not all know English and google translator, although with often actually is useful, it can very silly translate texts. Many people write blogs in several languages, I start to do this today.

Going back to tatting – I'd like to show you a classic black filigree pendant. I've done it a few days ago, design by Jan Stawasz (from polish monthly magazine, "Moje robótki"). I like this one, I can see a great potential in it. I used black Liezbeth, size 20.

Od dziś postaram się pisać zarówno w języku angielskim jak i polskim. Prowadzenie bloga w języku angielskim jest dla mnie taka mini –szkółką języka angielskiego. Rok temu, kiedy zaczynałam przygodę z blogiem, robiłam to właściwie dla siebie, by mieć gdzie umieścić moje prace i moc czasem komuś pokazać , czym się właściwie zajmuję. Ilość osób, które obserwują tego bloga przerosła moje oczekiwania, jest mi niezmiernie milo, ze podoba się Wam u mnie. Wiadomo jednak, ze nie wszyscy znają angielski, a google translator, mimo ze często faktycznie jest użyteczny, potrafi bardzo głupiutko przetłumaczyć teksty. Wiele osób pisze blogi w kilku językach, dołączam dziś do tego grona.

I made this mask few days ago. It is very sexy accessories and I just love it (my husband loves it as well ; ) ). The pattern comes from freetatting. I used black Liezbeth thread (size 20).

Sometimes I like to tat without any pattern or even any idea… I am tatting just for pleasure… and recently in that way I discovered a new motif. What I like about this motif ?It is very universal. It can be used in earrings, bracelets, necklaces or any doilies, edgings, almost everywhere. I love it very much, so I have developed it in original piece of jewellery.I named it Cecylia to honour my grandmother . She has learn me a lot of crafts (needlework type, like crochet, knitting, cross-stiching, embroidery , etc..

I tatted earrings in dusty pink (I love this colour!) Aida 20, with Swarovski pearls and antique gold earrwires. You can see prototype of bracelet as well on pictures, but I am not happy enough with it, so I definitely will tat another version. What do you think?

I was not here long time… Christmas time was a very busy time for me and we had a fantastic Christmas Holiday. Not too much time for crafting, but I managed to tat my second doily! I am really rubbish with bigger projects, because I am very impatience . I like fast results, so the most I love to make tatted jewellery. Today I can show you cute little doily. I wasn’t here not because I have tatted nothing, but because recently I have tatted a lot! last Saturday I displayed my tatted jewellery on my first ever Christmas Fayre in Edinburgh. I was so excited about it. There was a lot of people and I dare to say that was a big success. So I am going to continue to exhibit my crafts. You can see more pictures from this event on my Little Sister’s blog ( she is this Blonde Beauty! )

It is snowing in Scotland!!! Really beautiful, but chaos is everywhere, even schools are closed. I just tatted snowflakes earrings with pearls. No particular pattern, I made it up myself.

Handmade shabby chic frame with ivy

I am a little bit tired with tatting. So yesterday I made a plaster frame. The mould I bought few months before. Yesterday first time I tried it and I have to say –it was fun! I distressed it using a shabby chic technique and decoupaged with an ivy motif from a paper napkin.

Vintage brown thread

It is time for something new. During this summer I was in Poland and my grandmother has given me some old cordonnets. She used them to embroidery gorgeous tablecloths long, long ago. Anyway – threads I got from her are really vintage –more than 30 years old for sure –and tat perfectly!!! So here we have a tatted set –earrings and a pendant- in brown with dusty pink beads and gold earrwires. The pattern is simple, but I just love the simplicity of this –definitely my favourite pattern so far.

I recently was looking through various blogs and forums (by the way I love to do it - and you show you are doing amazing things!). I was looking for inspiration, ideas, new patterns, etc. The blogging community is growing me in my personal artistic development. This is the part of my personality, who was waiting dormant for many years for THAT period in my life. Learning new skills and use them in a hand-made projects, it gives me much satisfaction, a sense of fulfilment and self-realization. This may sound lofty, but it is how I feel at this moment and I am therefore very pleased.

Returning to the topic - I looked through blog written by Jane Eborall and found a bookmark which I really liked. I've reconfigured it a little, and thus arose romantic and very feminine earrings. I used a thread in dusty pink colour (KAJA from the Polish thread factory Ariadna), pink pearl seed beads and long Czech glass beads (also pink).

Red tatted lace bracelet

Today I want to show the red bracelet, which I tatted lately. Pattern I invented playing simple rosettes in various arrangements. The effect I really like. At the insistence of daughter I used two extension chains and fasteners. In my opinion it looks very nice. I am tatting the black version just now.

How to decoupage a tatting shuttle? – Tutorial

As I have promised in my previous post, I'll show you today how to decorate a tatting shuttle using a decoupage technique. You will need :

*shuttle (Clover),

*acrylic paint in bright colours (I used antique white and pink),

*decoupage glue (I used Mod Podge, but you can use any PVA craft glue –a little worse effect, but it works),

*paper napkin

*varnish,

*some brushes (including foam brush – you can use a small piece of sponge)

Paint the shuttle with a white acrylic paint, leave to dry (you can cheat a little using a hairdryer)

Repeat 2 or more times, until satisfactory results
(I added a little bit of pink paint to make some shadows)

Prepare a paper napkin with a nice motif (I recommend bright background). Each paper napkins has several layers, we need only top one. Be careful, because napkins are very fragile. When you have separated a top layer of napkin, you can very carefully tear your motif.

Just now apply a decoupage glue on the motif. You have to do it very gently pressing a napkin using a brush. This is the hardest part of this technique -you need to straighten out any wrinkles but do not destroy the napkin. Leave it to dry. Cut off protruding pieces of the paper napkin.

When it is completely dry, apply a few layers of varnish (leave to dry between applying coats). Leave for 24 hours to dry.

It is going to be your favourite shuttle!

Today there is not too much to write. I started this blog writing about decoupage. So I had to decoupage my tool for tatting. I embellished a few days ago my shuttle with a cute forget-me-nots motif. I used a cream acrylic paint, a motif from paper napkin, a decoupage glue .

Vampire’s Wheel of Fate

This is my next project and I am extremely pleased how it turned out. Halloween is fast approaching so inevitably I invented this vampire style medallion.

This medallion has all the features that I love in the Gothic style –dark, mystery, lace, secrecy, delicacy. I am going to tat matching earrings as well. So in the near future I'll tat a set of vampire-style jewellery.

Wow, finally I learned the basis of tatting around the ring. I could not resist and tried to do new earrings. The design was created spontaneous. A very pleasant surprise was the fact that the earrings are flat, not waving at all. So I dared to do a few new projects. Over the next few days I will show you some of my own projects. They are vey simple, but I am very happy I am able to design tatting motives. I wonder whether you will like it. I think also about organize a small "giveaway" / candy, whatever you call it.

Here I am presenting earrings handmade by me. I used a very thin thread in an old gold and earwires (colour of old gold as well). Do you have an idea what to call these earrings?

I noticed recently that dimensional tatting has become very popular. This can be seen on blogs by Agasunset, krystledawnetats, or umintsuru. So I made a sweet rose, according to this pattern. I used Liezbeth 20 in ecru and variegated pink.

Sapphire tatted earrings (in gold)

Still I like very much gold earrings with Swarovski crystals. This time I used the beautiful sapphire crystals. Effect exceeded my expectations. The result is jewellery that reminds me of the Victorian era, the beauty of flowers, gold, precious stones. This is my little tribute to femininity, romance and everything associated with that.I used antique gold thread (I don't know the name), sapphire Swarovski crystals and sterling silver (925) earwires plated 24 carat gold.

I'm trying to learn needle tatting, but I'm not satisfied with the results ... So for now stick to the shuttle ... Have a nice weekend!

Shuttle tatting vs. needle tatting

I am encouraged by the posts written by Agasunset and bought a tatting needle. I decided to learn this technique. Apparently tatting needle is much faster to do, which is the undoubted advantage. But at this stage I'm doing a lot faster tatting lace by shuttle. Now I would like to write about the differences that I see at first glance between the two techniques. Yesterday I did two flowers, the same pattern, same thread, the first made with a needle, a second with a shuttle. As you can see on the picture below the size of the two flowers are similar. The difference manifests itself in the thickness of the individual chains or rings. Next difference, which strikes the eye, is the distribution of colours on a multi-coloured, variegated thread. In needle tatting there is a continuity of colour both in rings and chains. In the shuttle type of tatting is a lack of this continuity. You can see very clearly the difference between colour of rings and chains. I must admit that generally I like more the final result in shuttle tatting, but the distribution of colour is far nicer if you are using a tatting needle. I used a sample of Lizbeth 40 (which was a pleasant surprise that I got along with purchased needles) and tatting needle size 7.

Elegant tatted earrings in gold with Jet AB Swarovski crystals

I have made another version of my gold earrings. This time I used a lot of JET AB Swarovski crystals. They match perfectly with this antique gold thread I used. Earwires are silver sterling and plated 24 carat gold. I like it so much, so I have made a matching pendant. Unfortunately I do not have a picture yet.

Steel grey pendant

This is a tatted steel grey pendant (5 cm/2 inches long) with several dozens seed beads in Anthracite Black. The pattern comes from here. The thread is a Turkish cotton, a small 5 g ball, Oren Bayan Solmaz Koton Perle, colour nr 414, (This one is thinner than Aida 20 or Liezbeth 20). I was told few days ago that grey is a new black this season, so I think the pendant is very trendy just now.

Summer doily

I found time to make few small doilies during this summer

Summer reminds me of the blue, shells, water and pearls. It inspired me to tat the light blue doily. The pattern comes from Italian (I believe it is Italian) book, called “Course de frivolite”. Unfortunately I don’t know the author. I prefer making tatted jewellery, but I like this doily. It looks like waves for me and matches to a sea beach display… The thread is Stokrotka (Altin Basak) –variegate white, light blue and aquamarine (size 20 I suppose).

Hello!!! Good news! I am back after 2 months holiday without internet and computer! It was a great time to reset myself. Now I am back with new ideas, with an enthusiasm and a positive energy. I spent this holiday in a lovely countryside in Poland and enjoyed time with my children. But I really missed the whole blogging community and I am happy I am back.

I made few new items during this holiday. Today I would like to show you earrings I made from a golden thread with Swarovski crystals. This thread is very thin, so the result is delicate, but durable. Unfortunately my camera broke down (lenses error), so I have got only picture of one earring… I am going to buy a new camera, so there is a hope for better pictures on my blog.

It is difficult to show on photos how beautiful this golden thread is, so I present a few shots of the same earring.

Tatted set for Pati

Last time I mentioned that I was tatting a black set for my friend’s daughter. I am very pleased with this. I used black Liesbeth thread (size 20), jet AB Swarovski crystals (more than 50) and black classic dagger drops. Inspiration comes from an old insertion found here. I like the effect very much and definitely I will tat the same for myself!

New motif

Recently I have not shown too much of my tatting, but not because I am doing nothing. Yesterday I finished a black bracelet, and I am still tatting a gorgeous set of black earrings, bracelet and necklace (maybe choker) with a lot of Jet AB Swarovski crystals. I have to finish the necklace and the whole set will be ready. It will be a gift for my friend’s daughter. She is going to wear it on her prom ball this week. So you can see –I am busy with tatting. No complaint about this – I am really happy, that others like my tatting, not only me.

Here is a black bracelet I finished yesterday. It has found a new owner today. I used a black Aida 20.

In a meantime I made up a new motif, (which I have transformed into an earring). I found an interesting motif somewhere in the internet, modified a little bit. I think the result is quite nice.

Last week I bought a lovely hand dyed Egyptian thread Lizbeth called Turquoise Twist. So I have made these pretty earrings – they look like forget-me-nots, don’t they?

And using the same thread and pearls and pearl seed beads I tatted a necklace, which my daughter called Ariel’s necklace, according to her favourite Disney’s character.

Tatting - creative way to express myself

Lace jewellery is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely I spend too much time browsing all fantastic blogs and I just adore those stunning pieces of tatting art shown there. It is amazing how beautiful things you can make using old vintage patterns, formerly used as doilies, hunkies, collars, etc…They are easily adaptable to modern earrings, pendants, bracelets or necklaces . Every tatting motif, from very simple to very complicated, is feminine, elegant, sophisticated and stylish. If you add beads, crystals or pearls –you can get a stunning piece of jewellery –delicate, unique and eye-catching.

The next thing I love in tatting is the idea of connections with female traditions. I like thinking that I make things in the same way as women few generations before me… this is our heritage and it is worth to continue hand making crafts instead of, maybe cheap, but without a soul , things from factories in China, for example. This is also a creative way to express myself.

Recently I have found a very old beautiful pattern from Beeton’s Book of Needlework originally published in Great Britain in 1870 by Ward, Lock and Tyler. I have tatted this pendant using black Aida 20 and purple seed beads.
